Biography

Murphy joined Marvell after more than two decades at Maxim Integrated, where he held progressively broader sales, marketing, business-unit, and general-management roles. His final Maxim position was executive vice president of business units, sales, and marketing, with responsibility for product development, sales, field applications, marketing, and central engineering. At Marvell, Murphy has focused the company more heavily on data-center infrastructure, networking, optical connectivity, and custom silicon. During his tenure, Marvell completed major acquisitions including Cavium, Avera Semiconductor, Inphi, and Innovium, expanding its networking, optical, ASIC-design, and data-center switching capabilities. Murphy holds a bachelor’s degree from Franklin & Marshall College and completed the Stanford Executive Program; he has also chaired the Semiconductor Industry Association.
