This Privacy Policy describes how Picksmith (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects personal information when you visit picksmith.co, create an account, subscribe, or contact us. Picksmith provides a digital research publication; we are not a broker-dealer or investment adviser. This policy should be read with our Terms of Service.

1. Who processes your data

• Picksmith — account registration, content access, email delivery, and support.
• PayPal — payment processing for paid subscriptions; PayPal processes checkout and billing data as an independent controller for those activities. See PayPal's Privacy Statement.

2. Information we collect

• Account data: email address, password (stored hashed), optional name and country, subscription status, and email verification state.
• Usage data: pages viewed, login activity, and technical logs (IP address, browser/device type, timestamps) for security and reliability.
• Communications: messages you send via our contact form or support email; Sunday email preferences and unsubscribe status.
• Payment-related data: we receive limited subscription status from PayPal (e.g. active/canceled). We do not store full payment card numbers.

3. How we use information

• Provide and secure your account, trial, and paid access to editorial content;
• Deliver transactional emails (verification, password reset) and optional Sunday edition emails;
• Process support requests and enforce our Terms;
• Monitor for fraud, abuse, and service errors;
• Comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your data to provide personalised investment advice or to execute trades on your behalf.

4. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)

Where applicable, we process data based on: (a) contract — to provide the service you signed up for; (b) legitimate interests — security, fraud prevention, and service improvement; (c) consent — where required for marketing emails (you may withdraw consent anytime); and (d) legal obligation.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

We use essential session cookies to keep you logged in. We use Google Analytics to measure site usage (pages visited, general traffic patterns). Google may set cookies or use similar technologies for this purpose; see Google's privacy policy. We do not run third-party advertising cookies. PayPal may set cookies or similar technologies during checkout. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may limit login functionality.

6. Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers who help us operate Picksmith, including:

• PayPal — subscription billing and checkout;
• Google Analytics — aggregated website usage measurement;
• Email delivery providers — transactional and optional Sunday emails;
• Hosting and infrastructure providers — website and database hosting;
• Authorities — when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.

Providers are permitted to use data only to perform services for us and must protect it appropriately.

7. International transfers

Picksmith is operated from the United States. If you access the service from another country, your information may be processed in the US and other countries where our providers operate. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.

8. Retention

We retain account data while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward for support, dispute resolution, and legal compliance. Billing records handled by PayPal may be retained according to PayPal's policies and applicable law. You may request deletion as described below; some data must be kept for legal or tax reasons.

9. Your rights and choices

• Access, correct, or delete account information via your Account page or by emailing [email protected];
• Opt out of Sunday emails via the unsubscribe link or Account settings;
• Cancel your subscription from Account (billing handled by PayPal);
• Where applicable under GDPR/UK GDPR or similar laws, request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, or object to processing, and lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures (including HTTPS, hashed passwords, and restricted access). No online service is completely secure.

11. Children

The service is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided data.

12. Changes

We may update this policy. The effective date at the top will change when we do. Material changes will be posted on this page.
