Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Picksmith (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects personal information when you visit picksmith.co, create an account, subscribe, connect an optional brokerage, or contact us. Picksmith provides a digital research publication and related tools; we are not a broker-dealer or investment adviser. This policy should be read with our Terms of Service and How We Protect Your Data.

1. Who processes your data

• Picksmith: account registration, content access, research tools, email delivery, My Holdings, and support.
• PayPal: payment processing for paid subscriptions; PayPal processes checkout and billing data as an independent controller for those activities. See PayPal's Privacy Statement.
• SnapTrade (Passiv Inc.): optional sign-in and read-only brokerage connectivity for My Holdings. When you connect or continue with SnapTrade, SnapTrade processes brokerage and identity data under its own policies. See SnapTrade's security page and SnapTrade's published privacy materials.
• Google: optional Google sign-in (OAuth) and Google Analytics as described below. See Google's privacy policy.

2. Information we collect

• Account data: email address, password (stored hashed when you use email/password), optional name and country, subscription status, email verification state, and, if you sign in with Google or SnapTrade, the provider name and provider user id we need to recognise your account.
• Brokerage connection data (only if you connect or continue with SnapTrade): encrypted connection tokens or secrets, SnapTrade user identifiers, brokerage account identifiers and labels, positions, balances, cash, net liquidation figures, and activity / trade history needed to power My Holdings. We do not receive or store your brokerage username or password.
• Manual holdings data: buy/sell transactions and related fields you enter yourself in My Holdings when no broker is connected (or alongside broker data).
• Usage data: pages viewed, login activity, and technical logs (IP address, browser/device type, timestamps) for security and reliability.
• Communications: messages you send via our contact form or support email; Sunday email preferences and unsubscribe status.
• Payment-related data: we receive limited subscription status from PayPal (e.g. active/canceled). We do not store full payment card numbers.

3. How we use information

• Provide and secure your account, trial, and paid access to editorial content and tools;
• Sync and display My Holdings (including optional SnapTrade brokerage snapshots) for your own reference and performance context;
• Deliver transactional emails (verification, password reset) and optional Sunday edition emails;
• Process support requests and enforce our Terms;
• Monitor for fraud, abuse, and service errors;
• Comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your data to provide personalised investment advice or to execute trades on your behalf. We do not sell brokerage or holdings data to advertisers.

4. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)

Where applicable, we process data based on: (a) contract, to provide the service you signed up for (including optional brokerage sync you request); (b) legitimate interests, for security, fraud prevention, and service improvement; (c) consent, where required for marketing emails (you may withdraw consent anytime); and (d) legal obligation.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

We use essential session cookies to keep you logged in. We use Google Analytics to measure site usage (pages visited, general traffic patterns). Google may set cookies or use similar technologies for this purpose; see Google's privacy policy.

PayPal may set cookies or similar technologies during checkout. SnapTrade or Google may set cookies during their sign-in or connection flows. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may limit login functionality.

6. Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers who help us operate Picksmith, including:

• PayPal: subscription billing and checkout;
• SnapTrade: optional sign-in and read-only brokerage connectivity for My Holdings;
• Google: optional Google sign-in and Google Analytics;
• Email delivery providers: transactional and optional Sunday emails;
• Hosting and infrastructure providers: website and database hosting;
• Authorities: when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.

Providers are permitted to use data only to perform services for us (or, for SnapTrade and PayPal, as independent controllers for their own products) and must protect it appropriately.

7. Retention

We retain account data while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward for support, dispute resolution, and legal compliance. Billing records handled by PayPal may be retained according to PayPal's policies and applicable law. Cached SnapTrade holdings and activity snapshots are kept to power My Holdings while a connection is active; when you disconnect, we delete the encrypted connection credentials and related broker cache from Picksmith. You may request deletion as described below; some data must be kept for legal or tax reasons.

8. Your rights and choices

• Access, correct, or delete account information via your Account page or by emailing support@picksmith.co;
• Disconnect a brokerage connection from Account at any time;
• Opt out of Sunday emails via the unsubscribe link or Account settings;
• Cancel your subscription from Account (billing handled by PayPal);
• Where applicable under GDPR/UK GDPR or similar laws, request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, or object to processing, and lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures (including HTTPS, hashed passwords, encrypted SnapTrade credentials at rest, and restricted access). No online service is completely secure. 10. Children

The service is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided data.

11. Changes

We may update this policy. The effective date at the top will change when we do. Material changes will be posted on this page.
