Problem areas / controversies

  • Regions Bank paid a $50 million CFPB civil penalty and provided consumer redress under a 2022 consent order concerning certain overdraft-fee practices; the order was terminated in July 2025. The action involved the bank during Turner’s tenure as CEO, but the public order does not establish personal wrongdoing by him. ([consumerfinance.gov](https://www.consumerfinance.gov/enforcement/actions/regions-bank_2022/))
  • The bank’s ongoing core-modernization effort creates execution, technology and expense-management risks while systems are being upgraded. ([publicnow.com](https://www.publicnow.com/view/A6093BB56E6A06DC4EE977C2319BC40D5FA9C568?utm_source=openai))
  • Like other regional banks, Regions remains exposed to changing interest rates, funding costs, credit conditions and commercial-real-estate risks; these are business risks rather than allegations specific to Turner.
