  • Advanced SLB’s digital and technology-focused strategy, including continued investment in digital, artificial intelligence, decarbonization, and new-energy businesses. ([slb.com](https://www.slb.com/about/who-we-are?utm_source=openai))
  • Directed a capital-allocation framework that combined cost control, free-cash-flow generation, debt reduction, dividends, and share repurchases. ([sec.gov](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/87347/000130817920000009/lslb2020_def14a.htm?utm_source=openai))

Problem areas / controversies

  • The COVID-19 and oil-market downturn in 2020 led SLB to furlough personnel, reduce salaries, cut headcount, close facilities, and record restructuring and asset-impairment charges during his first year as CEO. ([sec.gov](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/87347/000156459021002477/slb-10k_20201231.htm?utm_source=openai))
  • SLB remains exposed to criticism directed at the oilfield-services industry over fossil-fuel dependence and environmental impact, despite the company’s stated investments in emissions reduction and new-energy technologies. ([slb.com](https://www.slb.com/about/who-we-are?utm_source=openai))
  • The ChampionX transaction adds integration and execution risk, including the need to realize projected synergies and manage a larger production-chemicals and artificial-lift portfolio. ([slb.com](https://www.slb.com/newsroom/press-release/2024/slb-announces-agreement-to-acquire--championx-in-an-all-stock-transaction?utm_source=openai))
  • SLB’s 2025 filing disclosed lower revenue in parts of its production-systems business because of the Palliser divestiture and a pipeline-related production interruption in Ecuador. ([sec.gov](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/87347/000119312526021017/slb-20251231.htm?utm_source=openai))
